FAQs
What is your rental rate?
Weekend rentals (Fri-Sun) are $85/hr + $15 sanitizing fee. Weekday rentals (Mon-Thurs) are $65/hr and waive the sanitizing fee.
Do you offer half day or full day rates?
If you book 4 hours or more, we waive the sanitizing fee. If you book 6 hours, you save $25.
If I book time in the studio or the meadow, is photography from Carly Bish included?
No, photography is not included with your rental and you will need to provide your own photographer. If you want to hire Carly Bish Photography, you’ll have to reach out her directly at carly@carlybish.com, as her schedule is more limited than Studio Bish. If you do want to hire Carly as your photographer, the studio rental fee is waived.
What payment methods do you accept?
We prefer Venmo over all other payment methods. However, if you don’t use Venmo, let us know and we can suggest a few other payment types.
What is the studio square footage?
300 sq feet.
Can you access the studio independently?
Yes, you can. For first time renters, we like to give a very quick tour, and that includes showing you how to access the studio, a quick overview of the rules, parking, etc. The next time you rent, you can simply do your thing without any help from us.
Is there a bathroom in the studio?
The studio, itself, does NOT have a bathroom. However, you and your guests are welcome to use the one inside our home. Please be aware, we have pets and kids, but we're totally normal! For the most part, anyway. And please, wear your mask when you come inside our home.
What kind of furniture and/or props do you offer?
We have a wide variety of pieces we keep in the studio full time. You can see everything we keep in the studio by checking out our “Props” highlight in our Instagram profile, @studiobish.
Can we bring in our own furniture?
You can! Keep in mind, if you’re bringing in anything heavy, we cannot provide assistance outside of showing you how and where to bring things in. If you’re setting up a table, the biggest we would recommended would comfortably seat six chairs.
Where are you located?
We are located in Woodinville/Cottage Lake area. We don’t disclose our address unless you book our space for your project. If you’re trying to estimate your travel time, you can get pretty darn close by Google Mapping Ring Hill Forest.
Do you give studio tours?
We’re happy to schedule a tour. Just email carly@carlybish.com to find a time that works for all.
Can we come early and stay late of our rental to set up and clean up?
All rentals include 15 minutes of “buffer” before and after the time you’ve booked. However, beyond those 15 minutes, you will have to book ahead of time or have it added to your booking, provided the additional time is available. If there is a booking before or after yours, we will let you know ahead of time. It’s very important that you begin and end your booking on time, since it is possible for another renter to be scheduled before or after yours.
What are the best hours to shoot?
With the new construction, we are still learning what the lighting does throughout the year, so we can’t say which hours are specifically the “best.” The windows are south-facing, which aims for as much daylight as possible, especially toward the later evenings. So far, the best days are when there’s a good bit of sunshine, not so much the rainy days. We imagine it will continue to get better and better as summer approaches and we’ll most likely be adding skylights to the roof in the coming months as well.
When does the studio see the best “golden” light?
We see the most “golden” light in the summer months, between June and September. The later evening hours are best.
What is the best time of year to shoot in the studio?
We’re not entirely sure yet because we are still getting to know what the light does at our new location in Woodinville, but as of right now, we believe the best time of year is going to be mid-late spring through late summer.
Can the studio host weddings or elopements?
While our space works very well for styled collaborative shoots for industry creatives and often have a wedding or bridal theme, we do not recommend our space for an official wedding or elopement unless the entire event involves six or fewer people. A truly “micro” wedding or authentic elopement could maybe work in the space, but please reach out beforehand to chat with Carly about it more.
Do you allow pets?
We love animals, but we ask that you request ahead of time before bringing any pets to the studio. Please include this in your project description when you book.
Is the studio ADA accessible?
The studio is not currently rated ADA accessible but you do not need to go up any steps to access the space. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
How many people can the studio host?
We advise no more than 12 people inside the studio at any one time. And depending on COVID19 restrictions, even fewer to help maintain social distancing.
Can we host a small party, like a baby shower?
Similarly to elopements and micro weddings, we don’t recommend parties or gatherings over 10-12 people. We don’t provide tables and chairs aside from what is already available in the space.
What are the COVID19 guidelines you follow?
What you do inside the studio during your rental booking is up to you, but we will wear masks and maintain social distancing practices during our interactions with you. We respectfully request you do the same for us. Additionally, before and after your rental, we will sanitize all high traffic areas of the studio. We keep hand sanitizer inside the space but we also recommend you BYOHS (bring your own hand sanitizer).
